La Porcareccia farmhouse lies in the very hearth of Tuscan Maremma, immersed in the green countryside of Grosseto. Its location – just a few miles from popular seaside resorts and from the major archaeological sites, historical and natural – makes it the ideal place for a holiday filled with relaxation, but not without moments of leisure and cultural attractions.
In the range of 25 minutes by car from the farm house the guest may easily find crystal clear sea sites along the coast, spotted with sandy beaches and gorgeous Mediterranean pine wood. Among the well known places: Castiglione della Pescaia, Follonica, Punta Ala and, most beautiful, Cala Violina.
Down to south, the Argentario, the huge promontory, Cala Grande and Capalbio.
Far to the west the wonderful islands of Giannutri and Giglio, in the waters belonging to the International Sanctuary of Whales.
Also the inland has quite a reputation for its gentle hills and, on their top the medieval villages.
Nature and the respect of wildlife is the utmost vocation of Maremma, among the largest Natural Reserve areas in Italy, mostly the Uccellina Park, the Natural Park of the Tuscan Islands and, not far from our resort, the Natural Reserve of Belagaio, aimed to the animals preservation, where one may enjoy the sight of the Feudal Castle.
Also the Amiata Mountain, rich of woods and water springs is worth of a visit.
For those who are aimed to enjoy history, arts and culture the choice is indeed wide and the sites are of top interest.
Near to us the archaeological areas of Vetulonia and Roselle, important towns of the Etruscan Age.
Massa Marittima, one of the most attractive medieval towns of Tuscany. The Romanic-Gothic Cathedral, the Pretorium and the Township Palace are exceptional examples of the 13 century Italian architecture.
Minor but even seducing are the villages of Tatti, Montemassi, Montepescali and Roccastrada, a few minutes driving from the farm.
The town of Grosseto is undoubtedly interesting with its Medicean surrounding walls, the Gothic Cathedral, the Romanic church of St. Peter, probably the most ancient architectonic example amongst all.
No one may eventually forget about the significant value of the wine and food culture of the Maremma land.
The worldwide celebrity of the Olio d’Oliva Extra Vergine, the famous wines (all DOC awarded), as Morellino di Scansano or Monteregio, the different qualities of cheese (like the Pecorino), the exquisite wild boar sausages, the Millefiori honey, the monte Amiata chestnuts, and many other delightful taste experiences one can easily find in the restaurants or even in the summer festivals in this vocational territory.
